On August 19, 1981, the American Association for Medical Systems and Informatics (AAMSI) was incorporated. AAMSI's main purpose is to support patient care, teaching, research, and health administration through the development and implementation of computer systems.

Files related to the first SCAMC (Symposium on Computer Applications in Medical Care) annual meetings including event planning records and tape recordings of the proceedings and training sessions. Also Orthner's personal/teaching computer 'Hardware Museum' materials--vacuum tubes, transistors, circuit boards, memory and processing chips, network cabling. His teaching materials were discarded at some point and do not survive.
